Curtain Call

Curtain Call is an amateur theatre group founded in 1999 by Bhaskar - a well-known photographer and theatre personality. Started off with the intention of producing professional quality theatre - despite the totally amateur status for the paying audiences, Curtain Call also made a commitment to donate the entire proceeds from the productions to a charitable cause. With this in mind, they performed 'Wait Until Dark' in aid of APD, 'Whose Life Is It Anyway' in aid of Charities Aid Foundation and 'Duet For One' in aid of Multiple Sclerosis Society Of India. This time round, they chose to perform 'Witness For The Prosecution' (by arrangement with Samuel French Ltd., London) in aid of SICHREM and Stree Jagruti Samiti. The play is a courtroom drama about how a testimony changes the life of a man charged with murder.

Witness For The Prosecution
-a play in support of
Child rights & child domestic workers.

At the age when most children are reading fairytales and going to school, there are a handful who put their growing bodies through a hard day's work as domestic help. Estimates cite figures of between 60 and I i 5 million working children in India - the highest number in the world (Human Rights Watch 1996, I). A good number of them are employed in homes, because the labour comes cheap.

Ask any one of these children, and you'll know that their dreams are no different from those of a child leading a normal life.

Remember, every little
gesture counts.
